I moved to Pen-y-Cae in 1993.  The reason this village was chosen was because it was mid-way between Rhos, where my parents lived and Acrefair, where my husband's parents lived.  It seemed the most obvious and agreeable choice to us both.  When I moved here I was a Brownie Guider in Rhos and already knew a lot of parents and children in Pen-y-Cae so it felt like home very early on.  Although i gave up that role when my own children arrived.  I have maintained contact with a lot of those parents and children who now have children of their own.  My children have grown up now: one is twenty four and the other nineteen and no longer need me as they did when they were younger. This has allowed me some more time to take an active interest in our village outside of my day to day work.

I am also a member of Pen-y-Cae Community Group where i have taken part in various litter picks around the village often getting soaked or losing a welly or two in the process ha ha! I also take active roles in the Community Council Christmas Fayres and the Santa Parade.

I am currently Chair person at Pen-y-Cae Community Centre and work alongside our other volunteers to keep it open for our village to enjoy.  It is from here that I run Funky Milkshakes on a Saturday afternoon, once a month.  Children come and and enjoy all of the games on offer by themselves, with friends or with their parents and enjoy the refreshments.  I have organised Easter Egg hunts and Halloween parties for the last two years which have been very well supported by the Children of Pen-y-Cae.
